From a Facebook post three years ago today and it fits this year as well, boy does it ever.
It’s a bit strange sometimes how the words I read in the Bible on a particular date seem to go right along with what's happening to me at the time. Today is one of those days.
I seem to be having to deal with a lot of small things lately, not good things, things breaking in the coach, not to mention the stuff in the news, and all the things that Diane and I love to do, music festivals, jams, being canceled left and right. Things seem to be going from bad to worse. Yesterday the fridge in our coach died, after 12 years of trouble-free service. We now have a new one waiting to be installed with help from friends. That new one was a real pain to find, what with shipping delays and manufacturing shortages. That pain turned into a blessing, to find one in one day, it was the last one that would work for us anywhere, online or in a store. The thing was when I found the fridge broke at two in the morning and put the lack of cooling together with a strong smell of ammonia, I had the choice of how I would react. Get upset or just stay calm and figure out how to take care of it. I choose to do the second as best as I could. This was not as big a trial as Joseph had to face sold into slavery by his brothers, lied about, and then tossed into prison for something he refused to do. But just like Joseph, when things go from bad to worse it just might be God working behind the scenes. All things work out for good.....When in the dark, just wait, God will turn on a light. You just have to be still and wait upon the Lord, he will make the dark brighter.
Psalm 105
16 He called down famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food;
17 and he sent a man before them-- Joseph sold as a slave.
18 They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons,
19 till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the LORD proved him true.
20 The king sent and released him, and the ruler of peoples set him free.
21 He made him master of his household, ruler over all he possessed,
22 to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom.
23 Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham.
24 The LORD made his people very fruitful; he made them too numerous for their foes,
25 whose hearts he turned to hate his people, to conspire against his servants.
